Mad About Mango!

Over the years I have developed a LOVE for mango butter.  For the longest time, there has been a debate over Mango Butter v. Shea Butter v. Cocoa Butter. All three are wonderful skin moisturizers (I've used them all) however my skin moisturizer of choice is Mango Butter for the following reasons:
  • Mango Butter is virtually odorless, with a nice sweet smell, which blends nicely with my essential oil-ased products. I really wanted to love Shea Butter, but it leaves a very "nutty" scent in my finished product, which many of customers did not seem care for.
  • Mango butter is rich in antioxidants, vitamin A and E.
  • Mango butter is a versatile and commonly used in soap making, skin care, and hair care products. Mango butter is quite similar to shea and cocoa butters in consistency but differs in fatty acid content.
  • Mango butter is a sweet smelling soft butter extracted from kernels of the mango. The mango originates from southern Asia and can be found in warmer tropical climates such as Burma and India. Indigenous people of the rain forest have been reaping the hair and skin care benefits of this magnificent fruit for many centuries.
  • Mango butter has good emollient properties and lends protection against the sun. It is said to prevent drying of the skin and formation of wrinkles. Mango butter also reduces degeneration of skin cells and restores elasticity. Mango butter’s hardness makes it a great butter for stick formulations such as lip balm and lotion bars. It can be used “as is” to provide relief from the dryness of eczema and psoriasis.
  • Some of its uses are:
  • Effectively treats dry skin
    • Heals skin rash
    • Heals skin peeling, after tanning
    • Clears blemishes and wrinkles
    • Relieves itching skin
    • Heals sunburn
    • Shaving cream for a smooth shave
    • Treats small skin wounds and skin cracks
    • Moisturizes and smoothes tough or rough skin
    • Fights frost bite
    • Prevents stretch marks during pregnancy
    • Relieves insect bites
    • Promotes healthy rejuvenated skin
    • Heals muscle fatigue, aches and tension
    • Relieves skin allergies such as poison ivy or poison oak
    • Treats eczema and dermatitis
    • Fights off fine lines and wrinkle
So, there you have it.  This is why I love mango butter and use it my Body Exfoliator & Polishes, Whipped Body Souffle After-Shaving Cream and Hair Polishers.  I look forward to discovering many more uses AND creating more wonderful products with Mango Butter.
